Alderwood Optical and Canyon Park Vision Clinic proudly offers Latisse™, an innovative eyelash treatment. This groundbreaking treatment lengthens your eyelashes and enhances their appearance. It’s also an effective solution for people with hypotrichosis. Read on as your trusted optometrist explains how it works.
What Is Hypotrichosis?
Your eyelashes help prevent dust, debris and other foreign matter from entering your eyes to shield them from irritation. If you don’t have enough eyelashes or if their growth is too slow, you may develop hypotrichosis. While this is generally considered a congenital condition, it may also occur as a result of folliculitis or hair follicle inflammation. Ringworms and other fungal infections, as well as scalp diseases, may also lead to this problem.
How Does Latisse Work?
The Food and Drug Administration has approved Latisse as a treatment option for hypotrichosis. This a bimatoprost ophthalmic solution was first used to manage glaucoma. Using a sterile applicator, your optometrist will apply it evenly on your upper lash line. The medication is spread to your lower lash line as you blink.
Latisse helps lengthen, thicken and darken your eyelashes, increasing your eyelash length up to 25%. You can also expect fuller and darker eyelashes within two months of nightly use.
Why Try Latisse?
Even before its FDA approval, Latisse was already considered a safe eyelash treatment option. It’s also simple to use. With regular use of this medication, you’re sure to enjoy fuller, darker and longer eyelashes. Your optometrist may suggest using the medication every night for two straight months for maximum results. On the third or fourth month, we may recommend applying it every other night. Apart from being an effective remedy for hypotrichosis, it can also enhance your appearance and boost your self-confidence.
