With so many frame, material and style options for eyeglasses today, choosing the right pair can be challenging. There’s also the added challenge of comfort, as your new eyeglasses need to not only look fantastic but also feel great too. If your eyeglasses are causing you discomfort, contact your eye doctor, who can help troubleshoot the problem.
Read on to find out why your new eyeglasses might be uncomfortable to wear.
Your Glasses Are Loose
If you need to do a double-take when you take your glasses off, it could be because your eyeglasses are too loose around your ears. What you can do is to run your glasses under warm water and slightly bend the temple arms. You might want to consider getting glasses with a smaller-sized frame if this doesn’t do the trick.
Your Pupillary Distance Was Measured Incorrectly
You may still experience headaches or eye strain even if the size of your eyeglass frame is correct. An incorrectly measured pupillary distance (PD) can cause this issue. PD refers to the distance between your pupils and it’s critical to measure this correctly to ensure your new eyeglasses are a perfect fit.
If you are experiencing headaches when wearing your new pair of glasses, consult your eye doctor. They will determine whether the original measurements were inaccurate, or if you developed vision problems since your last appointment.
They Don’t Fit Your Nose Properly
Wire eyeglass frames often feature with nose pads, which you can adjust by pinching or tugging using your fingers. Push these pads outward if your glasses sit too high on your nose. If they are slipping while you’re wearing them, push the pads inward.
